Training

Marlborough Running Club has two regular training sessions each week.
Typically the club meets and sets off from the Marlborough Leisure Centre although on occasion runs are planned to start elsewhere.

In Spring we have the delights of the bluebells in West Woods, and Summer allows us to venture over the Marlborough Downs, perhaps to the Ridgeway National Trail, along the Kennet Valley, or through the beech woods of Savernake Forest.  Our Winter runs will generally be along quiet country roads and farm tracks and as it is typically dark at this time, being seen (reflective tops a must) and being able to see (head torch highly recommended) is very important.  Reference the Winter Running H&S Guideline for more information.

Monday Run - These are aimed as Improvers running sessions.

Wednesday Run - Longer runs of up to an hour and a half running in groups according to speed with opportunities to regroup.

The club completes the training week supporting the local Marlborough Common parkrun.  Whilst a number of members will take part running the parkrun, there are also a few that support the parkrun in the capacity of the volunteer roles.  Typically twice a year, the club will plan a takeover of the parkrun by supporting in many of the volunteer roles, including pacers, using the opportunity to promote the club in the area.
